Anthony Hilton: George Osborne’s cuts are a joke and a tragedy

Curious George Osborne

As ever Mr Hilton brilliantly puts it all in perspective and cuts through the crap:
Anthony Hilton: George Osborne’s cuts are a joke and a tragedy – Analysis & Features – Business – London Evening Standard

“The reduction achieved by cuts has been trivial. All the deadlines have been missed. Progress over three years has been pretty well non-existent. Indeed the overall level of government debt as a proportion of GDP is significantly higher than he said it would be and seems to be heading unstoppably towards 100% of GDP.”

And his previous article is just as good:

Anthony Hilton: Government ought to help, not hinder – Analysis & Features – Business – London Evening Standard

“Rolls-Royce, truly one of the world’s great engineering businesses. But it would not be with us either were it not for government intervention — this time the Conservatives.”
